Sennori is situated on a hillside in the Romangia region, in north-western Sardinia, with vineyards overlooking the Gulf of Asinara and set within an agricultural landscape characterised by olive groves, orchards and vineyards. The bright and breezy Mediterranean climate combines hot, dry summers with the moderating influence of the nearby sea, promoting gradual ripening and good aromatic concentration in the grapes.
The dry, predominantly limestone soils, together with the sunny exposures, are an essential component of the terroir. In this environment, White Moscato has a long-standing presence and is a defining feature of the region, forming the basis of the Moscato di Sorso-Sennori DOC, produced in white, passito, fortified and sparkling versions. The traditional ‘alberello’ training system, still an integral part of the local viticultural tradition, enhances the vine’s resilience and its direct connection with the soil.
Alongside Moscato, Sennori’s viticulture expresses Sardinian heritage through Cannonau and Vermentino, as well as varieties common in the Romangia region such as Monica and Cagnulari. The various winemaking techniques result in aromatic whites, intense reds and luminous rosés, with profiles that combine Mediterranean warmth, savouriness and distinctiveness. The long-standing tradition of vine cultivation completes the picture of a terroir deeply rooted in the region’s agricultural history.
